About Russ Bucy
Russ Bucy is a long-time musician known for his masterful improvisation and unique tone he creates while playing the guitar. His ability to play numerous instruments across multiple genres has enabled him to participate in countless gigs across central Indiana. Outside of live performances, he has contributed to several commercials and music albums. These experiences led him to create Russ Bucy Music, a YouTube channel where he can share his love for music with a wider audience than ever before.
His band, Big Daddy Caddy, has played across the state at public and private events for over 20 years. Their most popular gigs are on Halloween, Saint Patrick’s Day, and New Years Eve. Russ is also a frequent host at the Slippery Noodle Inn, a prominent blues venues in the Midwest. His solo performances, which can be impromptu, are an unexpected treat for many patrons. As a music instructor, he particularly enjoys Russ and Friends, a weekly winter event where students and non-professional musicians can play alongside established veterans for a valuable learning experience.
For Russ, his career as a musician has always been about providing entertainment to an audience. He certainly enjoys playing for himself, but he feels most satisfied when he can share his music with eager listeners. His years of experience allow him to seamlessly adjust his setlist on the fly for a lively and ever-changing crowd. He and his band anticipate the possibility of playing a song for the first time in front of a live audience, and take that challenge head-on.
Even being a professional musician, Russ still finds different ways he can share his musical knowledge with others. He has owned several small businesses over the years, most notably R&R Music, which provided retail music supplies and lessons for learning musicians for over 15 years. Now, with a central focus on music lessons, he currently has over 40 individually instructed students. Outside of music, he is an avid fly fisherman, and also rides his bike over 200 miles a week.
